Replacement of a lost or stolen card can be done at any SASSA office nearest to you or at the Post Office. You will need your ID and an affidavit from the police station that details that your card is lost.

The first lost card will be replaced free, but thereafter a replacement fee of R26 will be instituted and will be deducted from their grant money.



All beneficiaries are requested to keep their cards and pin safely.

Beneficiaries can report any problems they may encounter to their nearest Sassa office.

How long does it take to get a new SASSA card?

You can get your new SASSA Card in 1 day, that is to say you will get it on the same day after you have submitted all relevant documentation.

How to report fraud on SASSA card

Beneficiaries reporting fraud on their SASSA cards should submit the following to the Post Office either in person or via email to postbankfraud@postoffice.co.za

  • A completed SASSA fraud affidavit form
  •  Certified copy of the ID (if it is the smart card ID then both sides
    should be copied
  • Certified copy of their SASSA cards (both sides should be copied)
    The SASSA fraud affidavit forms may be obtained from any SASSA or Post Office
