If all documents have been submitted it takes up to 10 days for the SASSA Child Grant to be approved.

If your SASSA Grant has been approved, you need to visit the nearest SASSA offices to collect your SASSA Gold Card which you will use to collect monthly grants.
SASSA Child Grant Declined
If your SASSA grant application has been declined then you can lodge an appeal and if SASSA then decides to approve your application you will start getting payments within 3 months of the approval of your application.You cannot get the grant for more than 6 children who aren’t your legally adopted or biological children. You also may not get the grant if someone else is already getting a grant for the child.
How to cancel SASSA Child Grant
You can cancel your SASSA Child Grant if your circumstances have changed. To end your SASSA child grant, you must visit your local SASSA branch and submit the following items:
- A copy of the latest payslip or letter of appointment
- Bank statements not older than three months
- Your national ID
- Child’s birth certificate
When you submit these documents, SASSA officials will verify them and approve your request to terminate the grant.
