Minister Enoch Godongwana, during the Budget 2024 announcement, revealed that the old age grant, war veterans, care-dependent, and disability grants will experience a noteworthy increase of R100 in 2024.

Commencing in April of the current year, recipients will initially receive an increment of R90, with the remaining R10 scheduled for distribution from October.
In addition to these adjustments, Minister Godongwana disclosed that foster care grants would see a boost of R50, while recipients of child support grants would enjoy a R20 increase.
Furthermore, an allocation of R30 billion was designated for inflation-linked increases across various social grants.
Particularly noteworthy were the increases in the old age and disability grants, starting with a substantial rise of R90 on April 1, 2023, followed by an additional R10 on October 1, 2023, culminating in a total increase to R2,090.
Similarly, the child support grant witnessed an upward adjustment from R480 to R510 (a R30 increase) on October 1, 2023, while the foster care grant experienced growth from R1,070 to R1,130 during the same period.
