A dependant child can apply for Dependant Benefits if the surviving spouse or life partner has not applied within 18 months of the UIF contributor’s death.
A dependant child between 21 to 25 can also benefit if they are a learner or student and wholly dependant on the deceased UIF contributor.
Applicants do not have to wait 18 months for their Dependant Benefits claims to be processed and paid, as valid and complete claims are normally paid within 20 working days.
